Slow Internet Speeds and Dropouts – Hinchinbrook
Field Job Description
Customer has been getting slow speed on his new NBN connection. The speeds are jumping between 3 Mbps to 30 Mbps. When the modem is disconnected from a socket and then reconnected it takes sometimes days for it to reconnect again. They have been having problems for the last 7 years with internet at this premise. They Thought NBN would fix it but they are still on the copper network.

I tested the internal cables with the Lines test set #2 and they all passed within spec, no issues with internals. We connected the modem directly to the Telstra lead in cable and waited 15 min but it just wouldn’t connect. As you can see from the video this must be a network issue possibly intermittent. After about 15 – 20 min and still no connection directly on the lead in cable. We connected it back inside again and after about 5 min it connected again. This is an intermittent fault.
