Slow Internet Speeds For Unit – Guilford

Client had internet connected 2 weeks ago and has been getting very slow speeds of 2 Mbps on average. They had Telstra tech it here twice, and they told the client that they had a bridge tap on the line inside their premises so there was nothing they could do to help them and this was the problem with their service. I tested the clients speed when I first arrived with everything plugged in as normal and got, 3.67 Mbps then I located the clients lead in cable downstairs in the paint shop and connected the modem directly to it and ran another test and got 3.58 Mbps.(see video) this proves that this speed problem is not with the internals and some mystical bridge tap but a fault in the Telstra network. Barefoot you will need to send out a technician to repair.

Conclusion

As you can see from the video the speeds at the socket are the same as the speeds directly at the MDF. This bridge tap that the attending Telstra tech was talking about sounds farcical.

Update: Customer rang us the next day and said that their ISP had made a move and they should be working at full speed again soon.
