Thank you for reaching out with your question! I completely understand that setting up new technology can be a bit overwhelming. I’ll provide you with detailed instructions below to guide you through the process of setting up your NBN modem.

How to Set Up an NBN Modem?

Setting up an NBN modem involves several steps, from ensuring compatibility to configuring settings. Below is a more detailed guide:

Step 1: Check Compatibility

  • Modem Type: Make sure that your modem is compatible with the NBN technology available at your location. This information can usually be found on your ISP’s website or by contacting their customer service.

Step 2: Unpack and Place the Modem

  • Location: Place your modem in a central location in your home to ensure optimal Wi-Fi coverage.
  • Unpack: Unbox the modem and its accessories, including power cables, Ethernet cables, and any other peripherals.

Step 3: Connect to NBN Connection Box

  • FTTN/FTTB: If you have Fibre to the Node or Fibre to the Basement, connect a phone cable from the DSL port on your modem to the telephone wall socket.
  • FTTP/Fixed Wireless/HFC/FTTC: For these types of connections, connect an Ethernet cable from the WAN port on your modem to the appropriate port on the NBN Connection Box.

Step 4: Power Up

  • Electrical Outlet: Plug the modem’s power cable into an electrical outlet and turn it on.
  • Wait: Allow some time for the modem to boot up. This usually takes a few minutes.

Step 5: Configure Modem Settings

  • Web Interface: Open a web browser on a device connected to the modem’s network. Enter the modem’s IP address, often or, into the address bar.
  • Login: Use the default username and password, usually admin/admin, to log in.
  • ISP Information: Navigate to the Internet settings section and enter any required ISP information like PPPoE username and password.
  • Wi-Fi Settings: You can also configure your Wi-Fi settings, such as the network name (SSID) and password, at this stage.

Step 6: Test the Connection

  • Check Lights: Ensure that the Internet or DSL light on the modem is stable.
  • Test: Open a web browser and try navigating to a website to confirm that the Internet connection is working.
