PRIVATE NBN
TECHNICIAN SYDNEY
Your ISP Said Nothing's Wrong.
We Disagree.
When NBN Co closes the job and your ISP stops returning calls — our licensed private NBN technicians come to you, diagnose the real fault, and get you back online. Most faults fixed within the hour.
WHY YOUR NBN IS SLOW —
AND WHY YOUR ISP WON'T FIX IT
Most NBN faults aren't in your home. They're in the network infrastructure — and ISPs have every incentive to tell you otherwise. Here's what our private NBN technicians find on the job, every day across Sydney.

Getting your NBN fault diagnosed and fixed shouldn't involve a week of ISP chatbots and guesswork. Here's exactly what happens when you book a private NBN technician with Secure A Com — from the moment you book to the moment your connection is restored.
Book Your Private NBN Technician Online
Use our online booking system to choose a time that works for you — morning, afternoon, or Saturday by request. No ISP phone queues, no automated troubleshooting scripts, no waiting on hold for a callback that may never come. Tell us your fault symptoms — dropouts, slow speeds, no sync, or NBN NTD errors — and we assign a technician experienced with your specific connection type, whether FTTC, FTTP, HFC, or FTTN. You'll receive an instant email confirmation with your technician's name and a reminder the day before your appointment.
Your Independent Technician Arrives On Time
Your Open Registered Cabler arrives at the booked time — not inside a four-hour ISP dispatch window. We are entirely independent of NBN Co and your ISP, which means our only obligation is to find your fault and fix it — not to protect the network provider. Our technicians carry photo ID, hold Open Registered Cabler registration A10089 via ASIAL, and arrive in a fully equipped service vehicle loaded with test instruments, replacement cabling, Krone IDC punch-down tools, spare NBN wall plates, and NTD-compatible patch leads — everything needed to diagnose and repair your fault in one visit.
End-to-End NBN Line & Signal Diagnostic
We run a full end-to-end diagnostic — not the surface-level modem reboot your ISP recommended. This includes downstream and upstream signal level testing, line attenuation measurement, sync speed verification, noise margin analysis, and NTD or DPU performance assessment. We test from your router back through every internal data point, through the lead-in cable, to the connection device at the boundary of your property. For FTTC and FTTN connections we assess VDSL2 vectoring performance and check for bridge taps or corroded pair faults in the copper loop. Faults are located precisely — measured and documented, never guessed.
Fault Findings Documented on Video
Every fault finding is recorded on camera at the time of discovery. The footage captures live signal readings, equipment condition, cable termination quality, and the exact location of the fault — all with a running on-screen commentary explaining what each measurement means. This video evidence is yours to keep. If your fault originates inside the NBN network — a degraded HFC node, a DPU port fault, or a pit and pipe infrastructure problem — the footage becomes critical supporting evidence for a formal TIO complaint or an NBN Co fault escalation that your ISP is obligated to act on. We also provide a written fault report summarising our findings in plain language.
Fixed On the Spot — or Escalated With Evidence
90% of the NBN faults we attend are resolved in the same visit. Internal cabling faults, damaged lead-in cables, faulty NBN wall sockets, corroded Krone terminations, and misconfigured NTDs are all repaired on the day with a 12-month workmanship guarantee. For faults that originate inside the NBN network — infrastructure your ISP is responsible for fixing — we hand you a complete ISP escalation pack: the video evidence, the written fault report, and a plain-English summary of exactly which part of the network is failing and why. You leave the appointment knowing precisely what the fault is, whose responsibility it is, and what your next steps are. We don't close a job until you have a clear path forward.

NBN QUESTIONS
Everything Sydney homeowners and businesses ask before booking an independent NBN technician. If your question isn't here, call us directly.
answered below
Yes. You have every right to hire an independent, Open Registered Cabler technician to diagnose NBN faults on your premises. Unlike ISP technicians who follow scripted troubleshooting procedures, a private NBN technician like SECURE A COM uses professional-grade diagnostic equipment to find the actual root cause.
We provide an evidence-based report that you can take to your ISP to get network faults resolved. If the fault is internal, we repair it on the spot. If it is in the NBN network, you leave with documentation that gives your ISP no choice but to act.
ISPs run remote line tests that provide a snapshot of your connection at one specific moment. Intermittent faults — which are the most common type — often do not show up on these tests because the connection may be stable at the exact time the test runs.
Additionally, ISP line tests do not check for bridge taps, degraded insulation, or other copper line faults that require on-site testing with specialised equipment. This is why 80% of the faults we diagnose are in the NBN network, not in the customer's home — the faults are real, just invisible to remote diagnostics.
This is exactly what our fault isolation testing determines. We systematically test your internal cabling, sockets, and connection points, then compare the results with tests at the network boundary point — typically your NTD or NBN connection port.
If your internal wiring tests clean but the fault persists at the network level, the problem is in the NBN infrastructure. We document this with measured evidence for your ISP — not an opinion, but recorded test data they cannot dismiss.
A bridge tap is an unused cable splice, socket, or connection point in your telephone wiring that creates an impedance mismatch on the copper line. This degrades your NBN VDSL signal, causing slower speeds, frequent dropouts, and high CRC error counts.
Bridge taps are extremely common in Australian homes that were wired for the old PSTN phone system. If your home has more than one phone socket, there is a high chance bridge taps are affecting your NBN performance. Removing them is one of the most effective ways to restore a degraded NBN connection — and it is exactly the kind of fault ISP remote tests cannot detect.
If we determine the fault is in the NBN network infrastructure, we prepare a comprehensive diagnostic report with evidence including line test results, speed measurements, noise margin readings, and fault location data. You provide this report to your ISP, who is then required to escalate it to NBN Co for repair.
Our detailed evidence significantly speeds up this process because it removes the guesswork. The ISP can see exactly what the fault is and where it is located — they cannot run another remote test, get a passing result, and close your ticket. We have a strong track record of getting NBN Co to dispatch technicians as a direct result of our reports.
Most diagnoses are completed within 45 minutes to one hour. This includes the visual inspection of all internal cabling and sockets, professional line testing with VDSL test equipment, fault isolation, and initial repair if the fault is internal.
Complex cases involving multiple faults, difficult-to-access cabling, or extensive premises may take longer — but we will always discuss this with you before additional time is billed. We resolve 90% of issues in a single visit.
ISP support is free but limited. ISPs follow scripted procedures: reset your modem, run a remote line test, send a tier-2 ticket. If the line test passes at that moment, they close your ticket — even if your internet was dropping out minutes before.
A private NBN technician uses professional-grade equipment to find intermittent faults, bridge taps, and degraded cabling that ISP tests cannot detect. Many of our customers have spent months going back and forth with their ISP before booking with us — and we resolve their issue in a single visit. If the fault turns out to be on the network side, the evidence we provide gives you a strong basis to request reimbursement of our fee from your provider.
Yes. Slow NBN speeds have many potential causes including bridge taps, degraded copper pairs, high resistance joints, faulty sockets, and lead-in cable issues. Our diagnostic process tests for all of these systematically rather than guessing.
We measure your actual sync speed and compare it to what your line should be capable of based on its length, type, and signal characteristics. We then identify and address any factors reducing your performance. After any repair, we verify the speed improvement before we leave — you know exactly what you have gained from our visit.
