Travel charges apply for NBN installation work outside the Greater Sydney region. These charges are based on distance from our Sutherland Shire base and are itemised separately in the written quote — never added on the day without prior agreement. For most regional jobs, we aim to complete everything in a single visit to keep travel costs proportionate to the installation work. For locations within Greater Sydney, no travel surcharge applies. The pre-wire involves installing conduit from the boundary entry point through the building frame, running Cat6 cable to each planned socket location, positioning rough-in boxes for wall plates after plastering, and completing the NTD enclosure preparation. This work must happen before plasterboard goes up — the window is narrow and missing it results in expensive retrofit cabling. We coordinate directly with your builder's construction program to schedule the pre-wire visit at the correct stage.

The technical work — cabling, conduit, terminations, MDF jumpering and compliance requirements — is identical regardless of location. What changes in regional NSW is the practical context: properties often sit on larger blocks with longer lead-in conduit runs from the street boundary, existing conduit infrastructure is less common, and ceiling cavity access is more variable in older rural homes. The NBN technology type at a regional address may also differ from metro — FTTC is common in Sydney suburbs, while regional properties may be on FTTN or even FTTP depending on the NBN Co rollout for that area. The written quote addresses all of this specifically.

MDF comms room access in strata buildings requires prior arrangement with building management or the strata manager. In practice, you need to contact your building manager, explain that you require a registered cabler to access the MDF for NBN jumpering, and arrange a time when access can be supervised or keypad codes provided.
