The Problem

WHY SETTING UP A NEW WINDOWS PC ACROSS NSW
IS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS

Most Windows setup problems aren't hardware faults — they're configuration steps that get skipped, security gaps that go unnoticed, or software that installs without proper guidance. Here's what home computer setup technicians across NSW encounter every week.

// PROBLEM 01

New PC Still in the Box — Not Sure Where to Start

Your brand-new Windows PC is still in the box because the first-time setup looks overwhelming — passwords, Microsoft account choices, update loops and privacy settings all appear before the computer does anything useful. We visit your NSW home, handle every step from first boot, and have it running properly in a single visit.

// PROBLEM 02

Windows Forces a Microsoft Account at First Boot

Windows demands a Microsoft account, privacy preferences, region settings and updates at initial startup. Skip steps and you leave security gaps. We configure every setting correctly from first boot — antivirus active, user account secured, updates applied, language correct — no steps skipped, no security left exposed.

// PROBLEM 03

Antivirus Expired or Was Never Set Up Correctly

Windows Defender is enabled by default but often misconfigured — real-time protection toggled off, firewall rules incorrect, updates blocked by third-party software. Many NSW PCs carry expired trial antivirus from years ago. We verify protection status, remove conflicting software, fix what's wrong, and confirm your PC is properly secured before leaving.

// PROBLEM 04

Printer or Peripheral Won't Connect Straight After Setup

Peripherals rarely work without proper configuration — wireless printers need drivers, monitors need resolution settings, Bluetooth devices need pairing and permissions. NSW residents frequently give up after the first error message. We connect every peripheral, install correct drivers, and confirm each device is working before moving to the next step.

// PROBLEM 05

No One to Explain How to Use It Day to Day

Even when a computer is technically running, many NSW households — particularly seniors — don't feel confident using it for email, video calls or printing. We walk through every task you do regularly, in plain English at your pace. No jargon, no condescension, no assumption that you should already know how to use it.

// PROBLEM 06

Moving House Across NSW — Everything Needs Reconnecting

Moving house across NSW means reconnecting your desktop, monitor, printer and peripherals from scratch — then troubleshooting WiFi at the new address. Many NSW residents find technology behaves differently in a new property. We arrive, reconnect everything, verify your internet connection, and confirm your PC is fully working in the new location.

How It Works

BOOKED ANYWHERE IN NSW. RUNNING TODAY.

Here's exactly what happens when you book a professional Windows PC setup with SECURE A COM across New South Wales. A clear five-step process — from your first booking to sitting back at a fully configured, secure and ready-to-use computer, wherever you are in the state.

01
Step 01

Book Online or Call — Travel Confirmed Upfront

Use the online booking form or call 02 9188 1577. Tell us your location anywhere across New South Wales, what PC you need set up — new box or existing machine — and which software and peripherals you use every day. We review all job details before your booking is confirmed. For Greater Sydney addresses, your appointment is locked in online immediately. For regional NSW locations, we calculate the travel supplement using the ATO cents-per-kilometre rate and confirm the exact amount by phone or email within a few hours — before you commit to anything. No surprises on the day.

02
Step 02

Your NSW Technician Arrives On Time, Tools in Hand

On the day of your appointment, your NSW technician travels to your home or office — arriving with USB installer media, activation keys and all the equipment needed for a complete Windows PC setup, wherever you are in the state. We call ahead with an estimated arrival time so you're never left waiting in a wide open window. For Greater Sydney bookings, travel is already included in your $250 service call. For regional NSW visits confirmed at booking, the travel supplement previously discussed applies — there are no additional charges added at the door. We arrive prepared, on time, and ready to work.

Call-ahead ETA Tools & media carried NSW state-wide travel Travel confirmed at booking No door surcharges
03
Step 03

Unbox, Position and Connect Your Hardware

We carefully unbox and position your computer, monitor and all peripherals — keyboard, mouse, printer, webcam and external drives — and arrange the cables cleanly before Windows setup begins. For NSW clients who've had a new PC sitting in its box for days or weeks waiting for someone to get it going, this step alone is worth the visit. Every port — USB, HDMI, display output and network — is physically verified before we touch any software. We don't assume connections are correct; we check each one. Nothing is left loose, tangled or untested. A correct hardware setup makes every step that follows run smoothly.

PC unboxed & positioned All peripherals connected Cables managed Ports verified Hardware checked first
04
Step 04

Configure Windows, Security and All Your Apps

Windows is fully updated and configured. We handle the Microsoft account bypass at first boot if that's your preference, create a properly named local user account with privacy settings applied, then install all Windows updates before anything else runs. Your antivirus is installed, activated and confirmed running with real-time protection switched on. Microsoft 365, Outlook, Chrome and every other application you need is installed, signed in and verified working. For NSW clients moving to a new home or setting up a replacement PC, we reconnect existing accounts and carry over shortcuts and desktop layout from your previous profile where possible.

05
Step 05

Plain-English Walkthrough — 12-Month Guarantee

Before we leave, we walk you through everything on the newly configured PC — opening apps, checking emails, browsing the internet, printing documents, making video calls and using your antivirus. NSW seniors get as much time as they need. No rushing, no jargon, and no making you feel like you should already know something. We leave our direct contact number and back all workmanship with a 12-month guarantee — covering all configuration, software installation and peripheral connections carried out during the visit. If something stops working the way we left it within 12 months, call us back. That's the guarantee.

Based in Sutherland Shire — We Travel Across NSW

SECURE A COM is based in Sutherland Shire, Greater Sydney. This NSW page exists because we genuinely travel across New South Wales to service clients — including outer Sydney suburbs, regional centres and coastal towns. Very few independent home computer setup specialists will travel outside their immediate area. We do. For homes within Greater Sydney, travel is included in your $250 service call at no extra cost. For homes outside Greater Sydney, a travel supplement applies — calculated using the ATO cents-per-kilometre method for the return distance beyond our 40km no-charge zone, and confirmed with you before you commit. No surprises on the day.

PRICING FAQ

The $250 (GST inclusive) covers one hour on-site with your NSW computer setup technician plus travel within our 40km Greater Sydney no-charge zone. During that time we unbox and position your hardware, configure Windows 10 or 11, install updates, set up your user account, install and activate your antivirus, install your chosen software and apps, connect and test your printer and peripherals, and walk you through everything in plain English.
If your setup takes longer than one hour — for example, multiple software applications, data migration from an old PC, or an extended walkthrough for senior residents — additional time is charged beyond the first hour. We will always advise you before any extra time is billed so you can decide whether to proceed. Full details are in our Terms & Conditions.
For Greater Sydney homes, no travel supplement applies — these fall within our 40km no-charge zone from our Sutherland Shire office. For homes outside Greater Sydney — including regional NSW towns and coastal areas — a travel supplement applies. The supplement is calculated using the ATO cents-per-kilometre rate for the return distance beyond 40km and confirmed with you by phone or email before booking. The $250 service call fee and any travel supplement are always confirmed separately so there are no surprises. See our Terms & Conditions for full details.
Yes — we can set up multiple computers in a single visit. The $250 covers the first hour of work. If additional machines require more time, this is charged at the standard overtime rate, which we confirm before proceeding. Setting up two computers in one visit is often more cost-effective than booking separate service calls, particularly for NSW households with two residents each needing a new PC configured.
No — most new PCs come with Windows pre-installed and simply need to be activated and configured properly. If you have a new laptop or desktop still in the box, we handle the entire out-of-box experience. If you need a fresh Windows installation on an older machine, we can advise on options during the visit. Let us know your situation when booking so we arrive prepared.
The $250 covers the visit and all work completed during the first hour. If a hardware fault — such as a failing drive, faulty RAM, or a dead port — is found that prevents a full setup, we'll diagnose it clearly and advise on repair or replacement options. We can still configure everything else that is working correctly and maximise the value of the service call.

Book Your NSW Setup

We cover all of New South Wales for home computer setup. Greater Sydney — including all inner, western, northern and southern suburbs — falls within our 40km no-charge travel zone from our Sutherland Shire office. Beyond Greater Sydney, we travel to regional centres, coastal towns and rural properties across NSW. This includes areas like Wollongong, the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, Blue Mountains and further afield depending on job requirements.

For regional locations, a travel supplement applies — calculated using the ATO cents-per-kilometre rate for the return distance beyond 40km, always confirmed before you commit to the booking. No hidden charges, ever.

For Greater Sydney homes, there is no travel supplement — the $250 service call is all-inclusive. For homes outside Greater Sydney, a travel supplement applies. We calculate it using the ATO cents-per-kilometre rate for the return distance over our 40km no-charge radius, and we confirm the exact amount with you by phone or email before you commit to a booking. You are never presented with a surprise charge on the day.

If you're unsure whether your location attracts a charge, just call us on 02 9188 1577 — we'll check your address on the spot and give you a clear answer within a minute. See our Terms & Conditions for the full travel policy.

For Greater Sydney bookings, we typically have availability within a few business days. Regional NSW visits require a bit more planning — we confirm a travel date that works for both parties, usually within one to two weeks depending on location and our schedule. We operate Monday to Friday and do our best to accommodate urgent situations where a new PC is genuinely holding someone up.

Book online at any time and we'll follow up within one business day to confirm or discuss your timing. If you've just brought home a new PC and can't figure out how to get started, call us on 02 9188 1577 — we'll do our best to get someone to you promptly.

Working with seniors is one of the most important parts of what we do, and we've been doing it since 2008 — across Greater Sydney and regional NSW. We use plain English throughout the visit. No jargon, no rushing, and no making you feel like you should already know something. The walkthrough takes as long as it takes. There is no time pressure built into the way we work.

We can also make Windows much easier to navigate for seniors — increasing text and icon size, simplifying the Start menu, setting up large desktop shortcuts to commonly used apps, and walking through email, video calls with family, printing and online banking at whatever pace feels comfortable. Many NSW senior clients say it's the first time technology has felt manageable.

Yes — we set up computers in all property types across NSW, including houses, apartments, townhouses, units and retirement village residences. Apartment setups are no different from house setups in terms of what we do on arrival — we bring everything we need and don't require building infrastructure beyond a power socket and internet connection. Most apartment buildings across NSW allow on-site technician visits during business hours.

If you're in a high-security building or gated complex in NSW, just let us know when you book — we'll coordinate access with the building manager or front desk so the visit goes smoothly. No additional charges apply for apartment access in standard residential buildings.

Regional NSW bookings are absolutely welcome and we genuinely travel for them. The key difference is a travel supplement, calculated using the ATO rate for the return kilometres beyond our 40km no-charge radius. We confirm this amount clearly before you commit. For very remote locations, we may need to plan for a specific travel day — we'll discuss this with you when you call or after booking online.

Regional NSW clients often tell us that finding an independent home setup specialist willing to travel to them is surprisingly difficult. That's exactly why this page exists. If you're in Wollongong, the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Blue Mountains, or a rural area further out — call us on 02 9188 1577 and we'll tell you exactly what's involved for your location.

We support both Windows 10 and Windows 11 across all NSW setups. New PCs purchased today ship with Windows 11 pre-installed, which we configure fully. If you have an existing machine running Windows 10 and want to stay on it, we configure that instead and make sure it's fully updated and secured. Windows 10 is supported by Microsoft until October 2025, after which security updates will cease.

For NSW clients on older hardware that can't upgrade to Windows 11 (typically pre-2018 PCs lacking TPM 2.0), we advise on whether the machine is worth maintaining or whether a replacement is more practical. If a new PC is the better call, we can advise on what to buy and then set it up for you in the same booking — one visit, everything sorted.

Yes — while this page is focused on home computer setup, we regularly work with small NSW businesses that need a new PC, laptop or workstation configured on-site. The $250 service call applies the same way, covering one hour of on-site time. Small business setups often involve Microsoft 365 Business configuration, domain join, printer and network setup, and staff user account creation.

For multi-PC business deployments or ongoing IT support needs across NSW, call us on 02 9188 1577 to discuss your requirements before booking online. We'll advise on the most efficient approach — whether that's a single service call or a structured deployment across multiple machines. Business bookings receive the same 12-month workmanship guarantee as home setups.
