The most important thing to check is licensing. In Australia, anyone working on telecommunications cabling must hold a current Open Cabler registration. Ask for the licence number and verify it at the ACMA website before booking. SECURE A COM holds Open Cabler licence A10089 and has been operating since 2008.
Beyond licensing, look for technicians who use professional test equipment — not just a consumer speed test — and who can explain what they found and what they repaired. Our internet fault finding service is available Sydney-wide with same-day or next business day attendance in most areas.
A proper on-site service call starts with a visual inspection of all internal cabling, sockets, splitters, and your NBN connection box. We then connect professional test equipment to measure your actual line performance — sync speed, noise margin, attenuation, and packet loss — not a browser speed test.
We isolate whether the fault is inside your property or in the NBN network, repair any internal faults on the spot, and verify speeds after the repair. If the fault is in the network, you leave with a documented fault report that forces your ISP to act — something a remote support call can never provide. Most visits resolve the issue within 45 to 60 minutes.
SECURE A COM typically attends within one to two business days for most Sydney locations. Same-day attendance is often available for urgent situations — particularly for customers who work from home or operate a business that depends on reliable connectivity.

ISP support is always worth trying first — if the fault is on their network and they can fix it remotely, that's the fastest outcome. But ISP support has a well-known limitation: it relies on remote line tests that only capture a snapshot of your connection at that exact moment. Intermittent faults, bridge taps, and degraded cabling are almost never detected this way.
When ISP support has failed to resolve the issue — or when you simply cannot afford to wait — a local internet technician is the right call. We are independent from your ISP, so our diagnosis is objective. We find the fault, fix what we can on-site, and give you evidence to present to your ISP for anything that requires their attention. On the hardware side, we handle bridge tap removal, socket replacements, cable repairs, splitter faults, and lead-in cable assessment. If your building is an apartment with an MDF, we can also access the communications room and resolve MDF jumpering issues that standard ISP processes don't cover.
Yes — an adult occupant needs to be present for the duration of the service call. We require access to all areas of the property where internet cabling runs, including roof spaces, under-floor areas, communications cabinets, and any rooms with data or phone sockets. A proper fault diagnosis cannot be completed from the front door.

We do not rely on a consumer speed test or modem diagnostics alone.
We carry common repair materials including cable, sockets, connectors, and splitters for most standard repairs. If a repair requires materials not on the vehicle — such as extended cable lengths, conduit, or specialist fittings — we will discuss options with you and return as needed. Materials are always quoted before any work begins. Diagnostic tools and general equipment are included in the service call fee.
